Retargetting Motion to New Characters PREPRINT April

چکیده
straints, motion capture. In this paper, we present a technique for motion: the problem of adapting an animated motion from one character to another. Our focus is on adapting the motion of one articulated figure to another figure with identical structure but different segment lengths, although we use this as a step when considering less similar characters. Our method creates adaptations that preserve desirable qualities of the original motion. We identify specific features of the motion as constraints that must be maintained. A spacetime constraints solver computes an adapted motion that re-establishes these constraints while preserving the frequency characteristics of the original signal. We demonstrate our approach on motion capture data.

Using Motion Analysis Techniques for Motion Retargetting
This paper proposes a new approach for motion retargetting i.e. adjusting motion-capture data to different characters and scenes. In chaise of achieving universality, the existing retargetting techniques often become absolutely impractical for most of real-life applications. In contrast, we did not try to create a technique that can deal with practically any motion, but concentrated on creating...
متن کاملNeural Kinematic Networks for Unsupervised Motion Retargetting
We propose a recurrent neural network architecture with a Forward Kinematics layer and cycle consistency based adversarial training objective for unsupervised motion retargetting. Our network captures high-level properties of an input motion by the forward kinematics layer and adapts them for a target character with different skeleton bone lengths (e.g., shorter, longer arms etc.). Collecting p...
متن کاملOn-line Motion Retargetting
This paper presents a method to retarget the motion of a character to another in real-time. The technique is based on inverse rate control, which computes the changes in joint angles corresponding to the changes in end-effector position. While tracking the multiple end-effector trajectories of the original subject or character, our on-line motion retargetting also minimizes the joint angle diff...
متن کاملHierarchical Retargetting of Fine Facial Motions
We present a novel technique for retargetting captured facial animation to new facial models. We use dense motion data that can express fine motions such as wrinkles. We use a normal mesh, which is a special multi-resolution mesh, to represent source and target models. A normal mesh is defined by the base mesh and sequence of normal offsets from it. Our retargetting consists of two steps: base ...
متن کاملAction Capture: A VR-Based Method for Character Animation
This contribution describes a Virtual Reality (VR) based method for character animation that extends conventional motion capture by not only tracking an actor’s movements but also his or her interactions with the objects of a virtual environment. Rather than merely replaying the actor’s movements, the idea is that virtual characters learn to imitate the actor’s goal-directed behavior while inte...
